The Milgram study of obedience is one of the best know studies in psychology following the disturbing findings that came from the study: we would electrocute a complete stranger passed the point that we thought they were dead just because an authority figure had ordered us to. There were many problems with the study (ethics, ethnocentrism, androcentric) but the biggest consideration is the ecological validity of the study.

Voici ce que dit le professeur Jerry Burger, qui a dirigé cette étude :

The challenge was to develop a variation of Milgram’s procedures that would allow useful comparisons with the original investigations while protecting the well-being of the participants. But meeting this challenge would raise another: I would also need to assuage the apprehension my IRB would naturally experience when presented with a proposal to replicate the study that can never be replicated.

Une vidéo pour réfléchir à des choses joyeuses, ce matin… Je vous conseille tout particulièrement, vers la fin (ca 21 minutes), un passage où il est expliqué comment un canular a tourné au drame : un homme a téléphoné au manager d’un Mc Donald en se faisant passer pour un policier et lui a demandé d’arrêter, de déshabiller et de fouiller une adolescente qu’il disait être soupçonnée de vol…

Enfin, je vous conseille vraiment de prendre 25 minutes de votre précieux temps pour regarder cette vidéo, dix autres pour y réfléchir et cinq pour me dire ce que vous en pensez.
