The genome of the grape is spread over 19 pairs of chromosomes and is around 504.6 megabases in length. Un communiqué de l’OMS précise que des analyses pratiquées dans ses laboratoires spéciaux au Caire et à Londres ont établi qu’il y avait bien eu transmission humaine dans une famille mais qu’une équipe de l’organisation invitée au Pakistan pour étudier neuf cas apparus entre fin octobre et le 6 décembre n’avait relevé aucune preuve de transmission d’homme à homme généralisée.
Un nouveau cas de transmission humaine du virus H5N1 dit de la grippe aviaire a été signalé hier soir par cette dépêche Reuter.

Il est amusant d’observer la capacité d’auto-préservation des enfants dans les pays où les bonnes d’enfants sont rares. J’ai d’abord été effrayé de voir de simples bébés jouant sur des ponts de bois cassés, où l’on voit à travers de grands trous l’eau en dessous ; et de petits garçons montant à des arbres s’inclinant sur des précipices rocheux ; ou se jetant dans des canoës sur une rivière agitée. Mais j’ai découvert qu’on entend rarement, voire jamais, parler d’accidents concernant les enfants. Dans un récent article du blog Freakonomics, Stephen Dubner cite un long extrait de la préface de The Economic Approach to Human Behavior du prix Nobel d’économie (1992) Gary Becker. En quelques lignes, Gary Becker indique ce qui fait l’essence de sa démarche d’économiste. Celle-ci évoque, bien-sûr, beaucoup celle que Stephen Dubner lui-même et Steven Levitt (collègue de Becker à l’université de Chicago, d’ailleurs) ont illustrée et popularisée dans leur fameux ouvrage Freakonomics (dont j’ai déjà parlé ici). Mais elle rappelle, aussi, le sens véritable de l’économie. La réduction commune que l’on fait de cette science au domaine restreint des échanges d’argent, du commerce et de la finance est tout à fait indue. Becker entend économique comme Xénophon l’entendait, et ils ont tous deux raison selon moi.
